“Industrial agriculture has utilized our landscape as a depreciable asset like a factory, rather than treating it as a living organism to pass off to the next generation.”

Living off the land, as my family has for generations, teaches you one thing above all else: stewardship. Iowa needs to support accountability-based policies that cultivate clean water and healthy soil to insure sustainability for Iowa agriculture. We need to incentivize diverse revenue streams for farmers and put a premium on quality over quantity in agricultural production. Finally we need to support the small family farmer and make land accessible to those producers not just corporate ag giants. Iowa has a real opportunity to develop innovative environmental models for the entire world and a moral obligation to lead in the clean-land legacy.
